The journey continues through the hospital block, culminating in a visit to the award-winning café overlooking the "Harbour of Refuge," which was partially constructed by the inmates themselves.
The museum experience engages all senses: visual, auditory, and olfactory. The museum highlights the work of the brave personnel that served here between 1888 and 2013, you will visually see what “real” prison life was like, whilst listening to the officers speak of their experiences as part of the audio tour that accompanies your tour. The sense of smell is also stimulated in the laundry, shower block, and hospital areas, enhancing the immersive experience.
The Refuge Café offers a perfect spot to enjoy a bowl of soup, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and a selection of delicious treats. The museum also features a shop for unique merchandise and souvenirs.

Opening times: April 1- October 31: 10 am - 6 pm (last entry 4.30 pm) | November 1 - March 31: 10 am - 4 pm (last entry 2.30 pm). Adult tickets are for 16+ years. Child tickets are for 6 - 16 years (ages 0-5 free). Family tickets are for 2 Adults (aged over 16-59) and Children (aged 6-16), complimentary entry for aged 5 and under.
