Welcoming guests since the 15th century, the thatched roof of Woodford Bridge Country Club offers calm and solace in which to escape the modern world, among the moors and gorges of rural North Devon. Settled for millennia, this ancient cradle of British civilisation is packed with cream tea-tasting towns near Dartmoor National Park. Famed for rolling valleys, steep, wooded inclines and wild moorland, Devon also offers expanses of sheltered beaches and striking outcrops of Palaeozoic limestone. Guests are invited in a mixture of apartments and lodges are set within sculpted gardens that are tended by seven perky peacocks. Wandering around the grounds, holidaymakers will find a bar and bistro serving up a range of seasonal food using locally sourced produce. With a fully equipped gym, pool, and sauna on site, and the beach only 20-minutes away, a full work out, swim or stroll are all easily achievable.
