From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

I was looking forward to this visit but will not be returning. No veggi option (after specifically requesting) and also my friend has a salmon allergy which we informed waiter but that was also ignored. Lovely cake selection but sandwiches were dry and half we had to leave because of the above. One small pot of tea was given for us both and no hot water pot to top up. The staff seemed stressed as it was quite busy. What a waste of my hard earned money. Sorry but you could do better.

Three of us visited Bath Patisserie Valerie. There was a table for 2 free but we were told to wait for a larger table as it wasn't restaurant policy to sit 3 people on a table for 2. We waited 5 minutes which was quicker than the 15 minutes quoted. Then whilst we were eating a family of 4 were given the table for 2 next to us and extra chairs were found for them. Why is there a rule for some and not others? Food was okay too many carbs for my liking and service wasn't very attentive for a Saturday. By time food arrived hot drinks had been consumed but this was not noticed. Where is the upselling?

It was OK but you get as good if not better elsewhere for less. Staff helpful and nice but I won't go again.
