Octavos Book Cafe Wine Bar
From Our Editors
Based in the heart of Cardiff's creative quarter, Octavo's Book Cafe and Wine Bar is a new idea for a time in a café. Filled to the brim with books both classic and new, the cosy venue invites patrons to take a seat at one of the wooden tables or relax on one of the plush couches while enjoying their reading material and their meal. The kitchen serves a variety of light bites, including sandwiches and salads and organises a choice of different afternoon teas for customers to enjoy. A selection of soft and bubbly drinks is also available, as well as a special kids menu. Younger visitors can also delight in activities prepared for them, including colouring and age-appropriate books.
Very enjoyable afternoon tea. The cafe has a great atmosphere. A lovely selection of vegetarian sandwiches. All drinks were tasty. Also had a nice time leading through books. Would definitely return
An absolutely fabulous book shop with the added bonus of an amazing afternoon tea. The quality was outstanding. The cakes/pastries were of the same standard as a top London hotel. I am so pleased to have found this little gem and we will be back. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The book selection is also brilliant... I just had to make a purchase 🙂
The food was lovely, but service disappointing- had to go to counter and ask for tea, first time I've had to do that while having afternoon tea! It was quite chilly in the cafe too. Unlikely to go there again.
Very cold we at to leave our coats on ,didn't ask if we needed anything extra or ask if everything was OK, sandwiches and cakes were nice I at to ask for a pot of tea won't be going here again.
Lovely little place! The staff were friendly. It was busy but didn't feel manic or over crowded. Would definitely return 😊
Emma’s afternoon tea is the best ever. We were so impressed. We were even given a cake box to take home food we couldn’t eat. Octavos is quite unique. We will be returning again this week for another cream tea and to browse the books to use the vouchers which were included in the offer. As part of the Booklovers tea they are valid for a year. Such a warm Welsh Welcome

A little hidden gem in Cardiff Bay.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Plenty of food for our gin afternoon tea. Small criticisms-the scones were burnt and there was whipped cream instead of clotted cream.
Fun and independent business which I will return to.
Lovely venue , my only complaint is it was very cold , almost put my coat on whilst eating .Service friendly and helpful .
