Colchester Castle is where ancient history meets new technologies, providing a more engaging and almost lived-in experience. Visitors can attend star exhibits such as Colchester Vase and Fenwick Treasure or become, if only for a little while, builders of Norman archways, archaeologists or riders of Roman chariots. Further attractions include dazzling projections, which illuminate the structure's east wall, as well as breathtaking views that extend from the roof.
I visited with a friend - and think we were the oldest ones to join the guided tour! The museum is great anyway but the guided tour was so very interesting and well worth paying for. The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable - we visited places around the castle we'd never been before. It's good that they issue tickets for the day so that you can revisit any amount of times in a day. It's impossible to take everything in during one visit. Will visit again!
Great place of history. The guided tour is a must.
