About East Kent Railway

Originally constructed to serve the Kent collieries, the East Kent Railway is today a heritage attraction for the masses. Visitors can ride the restored trains between the villages of Shepherdswell and Eythorne -- a distance of two miles. There are two miniature railways, a 5" by the cafe and a new 7&1/4" woodland miniature railway. Entry to The Knees Woodland is gained from the main car park, and customers can enjoy walks through the 350-year-old woodland which was once the site of World War II trenches and a water tank that was used to refill the steam engines. In addition, the museum boasts a visitor centre, located in the platform yard at Shepherdswell along with a gift shop.
