Situated in the heart of County Durham, The Manor House is a 16th-century building turned hotel providing an array of accommodation and dining options for holiday-makers big and small. While adults take advantage of private function rooms or the picturesque beer garden, the little ones can enjoy a designated play area or be taken for a stroll around the property's gardens. The meals on offer are heavy on homemade flavours and can be savoured with local ales, beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Some of the highlights include English breakfast, salmon supreme and afternoon tea.
We waited over half an hour for someone to take our order. It then took a further half hour to bring 2 bowls of soup for a starter. When it came it was cold.
We could have understood the time if the place was full, but there was nobody else in the restaurant end of the pub. There was obviously a party going on, as they were laying out a buffet.
Good food, friendly staff. Would definitelt return.
A lovely rustic setting. The dining is excellent and well worthy of mention. Upgrade direct to a four poster room, full of charm or if you have dogs opt for the courtyard.
Amazing experience staff great
Really good food, friendly staff and good choice of menu
Very helpful - service good. The only negative - there were no paper towels in ladies toilets.
Food good starters is skip mains great, staff overstretched
We arrived to find 2 staff running around like headless chickens, the restuarant side did not seem to be too busy and the bar was reasonable, however it took a little while for order to be taken then we sat and waited around 40mins or more for our starters, and just short of hour and half for our mains.
Waited one and a quarter hours for food and when it finally came was poor quality
The hotel room was clean, with new towels, tea/coffee machine, by dear me 'dated'. The bathroom and shower hadn't been updated in a long, long time. The breakfast had been on the hot plate for goodness knows how long. Bedding sheets were being aired (on a supendous morning) on the internal stair balcony. We left after one night.
We had a brilliant night. The food was very good and the staff went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. We will be back. Very good value for money
