We arrived for lunch on Good Friday at the correct time booked and were asked to sit in lounge until tables in dining room were cleared. We were then taken through to dining room and ordered drinks and gave our food order to waitress. We were then told by I presume the owner that the chef had been asked to leave /left of his own accord 10 mins before our arrival so no food but our drinks would be complimentary and we are to receive a refund through Groupon account. These things happen but what stuck in our throat was fact that they continued to serve afternoon teas which presumably had been prebooked and didn't even offer us as much as a sandwich ! When we left the manager was on phone explaining to guests yet to arrive that lack of chef so be no food available.

Food was ok, but was very busy? The staff were not able to cope , there was only 2 young girls . They kept getting the orders mixed up . Chaotic as we were leaving to pay for drinks , the only other staff member had to man the phone . So we waited 20 mins till she was free. No apologies . Staff need more training .

Pleasant surroundings, staff very good. Meal was good although the fish was on the small side but the chicken was a generous serving. The soft drinks were most definitely over-priced.

Terrible. Not value for money. Tiny pieces of cake that were stale to add to the paper napkin, groupon customers only! Very noticeable that “normal “customers were better treated with linen napkins. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.

Afternoon tea deal. Nice room, lovely view, good service. Plenty of tea and coffee. However, sandwiches were small, cakes were minut slices of larger ones and scones were clearly bought packet ones. Very disappointing, as in the toilets there were pictures of the afternoon tea for the full price, which showed salmon and cream cheese on bagels and large homemade scones! I know it was a deal, but I did expect to be given their usual food!! Very disappointing regarding food. Very good regarding all other aspects.

I booked High Tea and was very disappointed. The bread and scones were stale. The dining room was very small with limited seating for a sea view and the hotel does not appear "new" as described, the interior looks tired. However the waitress was friendly and helpful.
