From Our Editors

The Beer Quarry Caves beckons guests underground to explore these 2,000-year-old man made caverns. Groups of two or families of four can embark on an hour-long guided tour through great halls of vaulted roofs and pillars. A trip to the museum rounds things off, with photographs, ancient documents and carved stones all on display.

Lovely afternoon learning all the history of the caves. Joined 2 friends from Somerset and Dorset and we all felt that it was well worth the trip. Amazing that the stone has been used in so many places.

An amazing place, such history, the guide was excellent. Highly recommended. Cream tea in the cafe afterwards was delicious.

Our tour guide was most interesting, bringing to life the stories of past times and the people who worked there. A little lacking in facilities.....temporary toilets only in the car park. Nice little cafe and very friendly helpful staff. We walked across the field to Branscombe after visiting. Nice varied walk. Followed by coastal path walk back to Beer, which was more challenging, but great views.

Lived here all of my life and never knew about the caves. Well worth a visit. Very interesting and a great guide who kept my 7 and 11yr old girls entertained.

The Groupon deal does NOT make it clear that you can only attend the 2.30pm and 3.30pm tours. I arrived for the 10.30am tour and was told this info. Fortunatly they let me join, but it is causing a problem for Beer Quarry Caves staff.

I very tresting hour spent on the tour. It was a very hot day, but the Caves stay at a constant temperature, you will need a thick cardigan or a coat.
