Very relaxed atmosphere in a lovely bright room within the hotel, excellent cream tea and service from staff

The staff were very welcoming and the venue was ideal for an afternoon tea, Which was very enjoyable. The sandwiches were fresh and fillings were as we requested, and there were plenty of them. There were two lovely homemade sausage rolls, which were warm. There were also two warm large homemade scones with a large dish of jam and another one of cream. To add to this there were six small cakes, which we were unable to eat. A very helpful member of staff gave use some foil to take them home.

A very pleasant time was spent at the Orwell Hotel enjoying our well presented afternoon tea. The waiter was very attentive and obliging. We were also offered continual tea/coffee when required.

I booked with groupon and then called and booked directly with the hotel a few weeks before we were due to go as it was a surprise treat for a friends birthday, on the day I thought I’d call in to the hotel reception to see if I could move it forward by an hour, I gave my details to the lady on reception to be told they had no record of a booking for me, (I was not impressed at all) she quickly went on to say it wasn’t a problem and she would book us in and see us at 1, from here on it got so much better, they decorated the table for with decorations and the food was delicious and we had great service, my friend loved it , would def go again

The tea was very nice, but the hotel itself is in need of a general refurb. Staff pleasant and obliging. I think it is under new ownership so will have to visit again to see how it's getting on

Despite reading some poor reviews, our experience was very good. Helpful staff, table laid in sunny, comfortable and nicely decorated lounge. Ample freshly made sandwiches, sausage roll, scone with jam and cream, a little chocolate mousse and 3 or 4 fancy cakes each. Ample pot of tea with refill. All nicely presented with friendly smiles. A very happy experience

Room, we were put in was quite cold, we were told there was no heating in there! Food was good, nice sandwiches, scones, and some nice tasty cakes. Someone else said they got offered more tea, but we never got offered this!

Yes the tea was very good but felt the service not quite attentive as should have been. For instance no one came to see if we needed the tea pot topping up, or a second cup of coffee.

Would go there again

The service was fantastic and such a lovely hotel. The afternoon tea was ok but not any thing special.
