The service, food and location were excellent. The young waiter although appearing to be run off his feet was very pleasant and attentive. I'll be back again. Thanks for a another pleasant experience. A.Greig.

I would not recommend this afternoon tea deal at the Crowwood Hotel. Before arriving When I called to book a table I advised that I would be bringing my baby (6 months old) and partner aswell as my gran (with whom I was sharing the afternoon tea deal) I stated that my partner would probably just want a hot drink (he was the designated driver) and possibly something from their menu. Upon arrival 1) strange smell at reception area as we walked through to bar/"restaurant" area - smelled unclean and frankly unappetising. 2) we were (despite having mentioned bringing my baby) shown to our table next to a very loud party of 8 women (possible hen party) and speakers blaring music on top. Not baby friendly and there were plenty other empty tables they could have offered which would have been more suitable and made the experience good. 3) we were not offered a highchair at any point (dealt with 4 members of staff - "manager", bar girl, bar boy (on his first shift) & another older lady) assumed they didnt have one to provide but upon leaving discovered they did have them as seen another table using one. Would have been nice to know. 4) Afternoon tea in itself was average: sandwiches with cold (read: straight from the fridge) fillings and not so fresh salad that had balsamic glaze over it however no cutlery provided so patrons expected to eat that with their fingers clearly. 5) No sugar provided with tea or coffee - staff not available to ask so had to go find them to ask. Not great service. 6) Despite the voucher saying for 2 we were still brought a third glass of cheap (and not so bubbly) prosecco. I had even clarified this when I called to book. So had to establish my partner just wanted a hot drink. Kind of embarassing and not a relaxing atmosphere especially when the "manageress" felt the need to state this voucher is only for two all loud and brash - as if we were trying to diddle them out of a sandwich... 7) the cakes were the best part - there were lots of them and although the cream was made in house, it didn't taste so fresh but the sugary treats (scones with jam, pancakes, caramel shortbread squares, meringue) made up for it Overall an experience that merits 2/5 in my opinion. I will not return to this hotel and they could really do with a lesson in hospitality etiquette and afternoon tea do's and don'ts. Especially the manageress.
