From Our Editors

Excavated to provide a meeting place for the club of an 18th-Century aristocrat, West Wycombe’s Hell-Fire Caves are now a site of historical fascination and a purported haunt for paranormal revellers. Over half a mile of winding underground passages links subterranean chambers that are entered through the eerie façade of a mock-Gothic church. The attraction hosts events to keep little ones entertained, such as a school of witchcraft and children's parties. Brave adults can tag along on a paranormal investigation using a variety of equipment to detect supernatural phenomena deep inside the caves.

It was a fascinating afternoon trip into the country and exploring the caves and learning all the history was brilliant. Afterwards having a hot chocolate in the courtyard was lovely, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Then great to be able to further explore the National Trust land around it. A great day out, good value for money.

Overpriced and under maintained. Broken exhibits, broken lighting and litter on the floors. Done in 20mins. Overall poor value

Excellent caves, grandchildren loved them but 1 hour is all you need in the caves but lots of walks and climbing around outside and don't forget to visit the church 'above' the caves, coffee in cafe was good in taste and value.

It was interesting.. Would have be better if we had time to read all the notice boards. We took two grandsons 7 and 10. They wanted to hurry along. The boards would have been more interesting and easier to read if they had larger print and the information shared over more boards. We had a job to make it last 45 minutes. We did not remember torches, it made it more spooky without.

The caves are interesting. There is a lot of information for you to read as you go around about their history. Nice cafe on site.

really interesting place in an area of natural beauty. The mausoleum and church are a welcome surprise and the Dashwood Estate which is National Trust and open to the public is a must see.
