We were dissatisfied with our meal at Los Amigos I am afraid. The food we received was excellent and very tasty however the level of service was not brilliant. I am not usually the sort of person who complains however I feel that something has to be said regarding the inconsistency of service we were provided. My boyfriend and I were interested in trying Los Amigos and had been recommended your restaurant through a friend who praised particularly the service received, and the leniency of the voucher, they had explained to us how they were allowed to pay an extra few pounds to upgrade to the fajitas and they also explained how they were allowed to combine the value of the starters and get a sharing platter, there was a group of 4 of them and they all had the fajitas which they said were 'amazing' and so when we saw the same Groupon deal as our friends was still live, we decided to purchase the deal, we were so looking forward to the evening and had looked at the menu online, after speaking with our friends who had said we just have to try the fajitas we'd decided we would ask to pay the extra for them, we couldn't see it being a problem seeing as our friends commented on the leniency of the deal. We were incredibly disappointed when we were told that we could not pay the extra, I explained to your waitress who simply said 'my manager says no' I appreciated that she asked for me, however I did not feel she was particularly apologetic. We then looked through the menu to find an alternative main, I noticed that there was a main course which was around £6 and I remembered that our friends had said they could combine the value of their deal, so I asked the other waitress if it would be possible to have one £6 main course and one fajitas, to which she was uncertain and went to ask a colleague, on return she simply replied 'my manager is not in and I cannot make that decision'. After this I simply could not be bothered to cause a fuss, and point out that the other waitress had said that her manager said no, meaning a manager was in the restaurant, so clearly one of them was lying to me, which is the main point of my email. I feel that your waitresses lied to me and the reason for this was because they were clearly disinterested in the fact we were not happy with the service we were provided they would have said anything to stop us asking any other questions, I understand that in the small print of the groupon deal it does not say that you allow customers to pay extra for food, but it is the fact that you let our friends do it and not us, we felt that this was totally unfair. I would also like to point out that it was a quiet tuesday night and there were all of 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant.. the business was not exactly busy and I don't see how letting us pay extra for fajitas would have been a massive issue... I would also like to point out that during the evening one waitress walked out the front and sat down for a cigarette, which is most unhygienic and I would hope not the way in which you would choose to advertise service in your restaurant. I would like to again comment that we thoroughly enjoyed the food which we did eat, however it was the service received and the unfairness of the situation that really let the evening down.
