Learn a little more about the rise of Elvis Presley, from humble beginnings to teen idol, movie star and rock icon, by perusing over 300 artefacts from the family’s personal archives. Boasting several items never before seen outside Graceland, the exhibition looks at the musical and cultural impact Elvis had after first recording his sessions in the mid-fifties. Personal items will be on display alongside the likes of automobiles, historical documents, iconic stage costumes, guitars, records, photos and various audio and video presentations. There will be a chance to see the pool table Elvis played on with the Beatles, with the show also boasting items never before seen outside Memphis such as the Taking Care of Business ring, the Red MG Roadster from Blue Hawaii and Elvis’ personal wallet and Graceland keys. Various items will be displayed for a limited period over the exhibition’s run too, appearing at different times over its nine-month run and including the likes of the 1968 Comeback Special black leather outfit and 1957’s gold lame get-up. Fans will also be able to make some purchases at Europe’s largest Elvis-themed retail outlet, offering an array of merchandise as well as CDs and box sets of his recordings.
