Perched on the sandy seafront, overlooking the Folkestone harbour, the Grand Burstin Hotel brings guests closer to the collection eateries, bars, shops and galleries of this coastal town. Travellers may hit the shopping centres in Bouverie Place and the antique shops in the neighbouring towns of Sandgate and Hythe. In an eight-minute drive, holidaymakers may reach the entertaining Lower Leas Coastal Park, while the imposing Church of St. Mary and St. Eanswythe may be reached in a nine-minute walk. Decorated in pastel schemes and green colour touches, a cluster of en suite rooms provide home comforts including hot drink-making facilities. With panoramic sea views, the two on-site restaurants serve a wide variety of Kentish meals including chef specials, while the Maritime Lounge is the place where Brasserie light snacks and refined beverages may be savoured. Visitors may choose to unwind at the Spindles Health & Leisure Club kitted out with a 12-metre indoor heated pool, a sauna and a fully equipped gym.

The hotel was old and run down, showers don't work, food was sub-par, no phone in the room. I suppose it would be fine if you were a geriatric on holiday, most people over 70. All in all, a disappointment.

Good sized, clean bedroom and bathroom with good shower! Great location on harbour front. Very reasonable bar prices and tasty breakfast. Day trip to Boulogne was fantastic. Really good value for money.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful, apart from the barman who was not well pleased when I asked for a glass to go with the bottle of beer I had just bought. No real ale served. The breakfasts were good, evening meal insipid. The room was designated as smoking so smelt of tobacco smoke, which, as a non-smoker didn't go down very well. Good parking, and overall worth what we had payed. Like the parts of Folkstone which I saw, the hotel could do with a facelift.

Not worth paying for an upgrade. If you pay to upgrade to executive room it states on the website that this is includes premier dining with a la carte menu. This is misleading as both restaurants are buffet and the only difference is you are meant to have more choice!!! Only difference with executive rooms is they have a sea view but unless you like the smell of stale smoke ensure you have a room that wasn't previously used as a designated smoking room. The furniture in the first room was also very shabby and not in good state of repair so don't be afraid to ask to move if you're not happy.

Hotel very large and in need of a lot of TLC BUT staff very helpful and pleasant. Room very hot despite opened window - would be unbearable if it had been hot outside! Buffet dinner good - worth paying £5 each to upgrade to the better restaurant. Was great value for money.

It was so awful we checked out early and went home rather than staying another night. Avoid if you dont want to be either going home or looking for another place to stay

The rooms were very basic and not well cleaned. The 'luxurious Victorian dining room ' which we were upgraded to as the other restaurant was out of action, was decidedly in need of upgrading itself! The chairs had lost most of their leather upholstery and some had large holes where the stuffing was coming out. The food, nevertheless, was Ok.
