From Our Editors

Operating since 2006, the barns at Chigborough are part of a family-run business, set in a large courtyard nestled between lakes. Visitors can paint pieces of pottery and have them glazed in a specially equipped studio. The venue also features a smokehouse and delicatessen with fish smoked on site, as well as a tearoom using fresh, locally produced food. Customers can also browse a selection of French-style furniture, along with gifts and accessories such as wine holders, photo frames and Yankee Candles. Fishers can try out their angling skills at one of the lakes, and have snacks delivered straight to their fishing spots.

Only myself and friend taking part at our allotted time. Left to our own devices. Room was very cold, and lacking in essentials such as paper to wipe our paint brushes. Toilet facilities were awful. Could not even get a cup of tea as the tearoom is only open on certain days, something we did not know when we booked. Staff in the craft room were quite helpful, but once they had settled us in the Pottery Room, they ignored us.

Good fun even for grown ups! Bought it for friends B-day we both love it and definitely will come back! The only thing - the room was a bit cold.

This is a great place to go. I go with my friend every few weeks, it's a great way to destress. I use Groupon vouchers when available or just go off my own back if not. It's also a fun place for kids to be artistic and have fun. Voucher includes a piece of pottery to paint, use of paints, pens, mix tile, and help from very friendly staff. plus fun, a nice keepsake and a feeling of relaxation. I'm a big fan of this place, I'd recommend to anyone!😀

Very unhelful and incredibly limited range of items to paint, no support or explanation given of what to do, just totally left on your own Better off at Barleylands

Lots of little thing:. They didn't provide enough pots of water for the number in the group for washing brushes so girls were getting up and down and knocking the already wobbly table, so that was causing mistakes on the designs. No paper towels for drying the brushes to keep the paint undiluted. No toilet paper in the loo which was across the courtyard/car park so every trip had to be accompanied. They didn't offer any of the stencils to the painters. The Groupon is for a mug or a plate and there was no flexibility. The mugs cost £12 but they would not swap for a fairy for one child (cost also £12) but would charge the £12 on top. If the fairy had cost more, I could understand but not when it was the same amount! We were left completely alone for two hours and have not been given a firm time frame for collection, just a text or call in 2-3 weeks. In comparison to other venues, the pottery painting feels like an afterthought at The Barn.
