The Buddha Lounge is a South-East Asian restaurant based in Whitefield, Manchester, that specialises in Thai food, as well as some Cantonese dishes. It opened in 2009 and has a modern ambience, allied to a precise knowledge of the traditions of Thai cuisine. The Buddha Lounge is open 7 days a week; from 5pm Monday to Saturday, and from 2pm for lunch on Sundays. The extensive main menu consists of standard Thai dishes such as four season Thai roast duck curry, Thai sweet chilli sea bass and tom-yam-goong, which is a traditional hot and sour soup with king prawns and lemongrass. As well as the Thai menu, The Buddha Lounge also offers a Cantonese menu, comprising dishes such as sweet and sour chicken, won ton soup and deep fried shredded beef with Szechuan sauce. The restaurant also boasts a special Sunday lunch menu, which is very popular, and has an early bird menu that can be enjoyed between 5pm and 6:30pm. The Buddha Lounge is proud to offer a Thai and Cantonese cooking school where members of the public can gain an insight into the cooking of South-East Asian dishes. The classes are run by the experienced and knowledgeable chefs, and the winning dish is always rewarded by the head chef. These classes are held at The Buddha Lounge, but private classes can also be given at a private venue.
