From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisan baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 multiple venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft patisseries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose leaf teas. Their specialties include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato ice cream.

Awe full sandwiches. All funny shaped and messy. One I had only contained what I think was mustard. The chicken, tomato and pesto was a weird combination. The salmon tasted cheap. Even at the cheaper price not worth the money. Scones were nice. Cake ok but some a bit bland.

The tea for two is excellent but it will be very busy with a Groupon voucher offer. Don't expect fast service as it will be very popular.

It was busy when we got there on Sunday afternoon around 2pm, and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The table we were seated at wasn't very good, it was right up against a pillar and the table next to us on the other side was very close to us and we felt very hemmed in. The service was poor, the people next to us were served before us, even though we sat down first ! The food was lovely, but we were waiting a while fo it to come. We also waited for a long time to be asked if we wanted a refill on the tea, which we did, and no one once asked if everything was alright for us. We would go back, but wouldn't sit at that table again and I would expect much better service !
