From Our Editors

Shorelands Wildlife Gardens provides an intimate setting for visitors to befriend some of the local and more exotic wildlife. A variety of animals are present at the gardens, including deer, monkeys, ducks, storks, tortoises and parrots, ensuring young and adult guests will be captivated. Visitors can also take a look at Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery garden, a small family-run plant nursery with over 2,000 species or perennial plants. Many of these can be purchased from the nursery, and more items are for sale in the garden's gift shop. An art gallery and coffee shop are also available.

the service at the café was excellent, but the 'cream tea' was just a fruit scone cream and jam, which was a little disappointing. think it ought to have been advertised as such, however it was very tasty. The wildlife experience was excellent and would recommend that very strongly, very knowledgeable staff and their children were also very polite and informative.

It was so different to what we were expecting. It was brilliant. The area we walked around was so interesting with the birds and plants. The donkeys were so friendly. The little tea-shop was inexpensive and delicious. The people there were very friendly and helpful with all our questions. Definitely going next year, to see if there are any different visiting birds.

Have been several times since it's opening. Gardens looking worse for wear now, unused cages overgrown and adjoining plant centre almost derelict. Cafe still very good.

The cafe was lovely and the scones were excellent! I had fruit scone with jam and cream and my husband had a cheese scone which came with butter, onion relish and a piece of mature cheddar - they were absolutely gorgeous! However, the garden centre and wildlife gardens were a great disappointment. We had been there a couple of years or so ago and had found them delightful, however, they have sadly been let go a lot, particularly the garden centre. The animals which were there looked well cared for, but there were many empty enclosures and signage was very poor. It's a great shame as this could be a truly amazing place.

Good place if you have young children to take for visit scones delicious Sad to say thought it was looking bit run down compared to last year, maybe they have some works due to take place?

Lovely service but short staffed so half of the menu not available, gardens overgrown and lots of poo on pathways, whole loaves of bread strewn all over pathways near entrance, toilets dirty, A small place with huge potential sadly it's not used.

Cafe was lovely, food although limited (due to an emergency on their other site a horse had fallen in a lake) was tasty, we had a sausage roll as well as a cream tea. Menu looked plentiful tho. There is a lovely walk with numerous birds and ducks, turkeys, geese wandering about. It's not an all day place and tbh I would not want to pay full price for the visit but going via a groupon was fine.
