Great little find, nice afternoon tea, and great value. Left stuffed, so that’s a good thing

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my sister. We had gin & tonics from the wide selection and were told all about it first - very interesting! And what type of tonic to use with each one and why. Then we had the tea which was just perfect. There was so much lovley food that we took our cream and jam scones with us, beautifully wrapped up in foil peacocks! Excellent! Take time to go. We followed the Millenium Trail from Portsmouth ending with a short walk across the Commom to Monty's.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here for my daughters birthday, the food was very good, wonderful scones😄My elderly mother wanted to join in the celebration but knew she wouldn't be able to eat much so they let her share ours and even gave her a free pot of tea, couldn't be more helpful.

We visited Monty's for afternoon tea at 2pm on Saturday 28th October. This had been arranged and paid for in advance via a Groupon voucher, and was planned as a special occasion for my mother-in-law and I to spend some quality time together, a last opportunity for some considerable time as she will shortly depart overseas. When the afternoon tea was served it did not, unfortunately, meet the standard expected from a good quality restaurant: The tea pot which was provided was very dirty. It was also designed for only one person rather than two. The sandwiches were generally of poor quality. The 4 tomato, cheese and pickle sandwiches were especially poor, being wet and inedible. The suspicion is that these had been made a number of hours before they were served as they were not at all fresh. The scones were very dry and as such very difficult to eat. The cream served with the scones tasted very artificial and was of not quality. The general all-round presentation was poor, and the quantity of food lacking. In addition to the quality of the food and drink, the background music was anything but - it was extremely intrusive throughout. Combined with a group of people at the next table who spent the majority of the time talking and laughing very loudly, even shouting, this made it almost impossible for us to have any kind of meaningful conversation The afternoon which we experienced was not at all what I had hoped for and was certainly not worth the £18 which it cost. Having intended to treat my mother-in-law, something which I will be unable to do over the Christmas period, I was extremely disappointed, upset, frustrated and angry. I mentioned the issue with the teapot at the time, however as the subsequent issues cam one after another, and as I didn't want to spoil the experience for my mother-in-law any further, I preferred not to have to make multiple complaints at the table. This is why I am emailing you as soon as possible after our return home. I have enjoyed afternoon tea at a variety of different establishments in the past, and the food has almost invariably been plentiful and of good quality. Sadly, this was not the case at Monty's. I emailed them after our visit to give them the opportunity to mend it , however , it's now over a week since I sent this email and so far I received no response. Really poor service and customer service , i'm afraid
