From Our Editors

A four star 18th century country house, The Oriel Country Hotel & Spa is located just outside the city of St Asaph, a 15-minute drive from the sandy North Welsh shores. This area is famed for its mountains and valleys, and offers a range of attractions including castles, gardens, museums and the rugged coastline, with the Conwy Castle displaying its 13th century turrets a 25-minute drive from the hotel. With spacious rooms, homely decor and a warm colour scheme, this hotel welcomes guests amid rustic and rural surrounds. The Terrace restaurant dishes up hearty and traditional meals, flavoured with locally sourced produce and bits and pieces from the market garden. Guests can relax in the pool or work up a sweat in the gym, while those feeling extra indulgent can head to the health spa to peruse a menu of massages, facials and body scrubs.

We had a lovely 2 day break at Oriel Country House, our room was pleasant, staff very friendly, pool area clean, my only issue was the lack of choice for Vegetarians in the restaurant.

Could have done with a fan in bedroom. Warm even with windows open and radiator off. Comfortable room though.

It was not really a spa, it had a tired old very small pool. Rooms were pleasant & staff were pleasant though i would not return.

Hotel was lovely, clean and quiet. Me and my partner had a two night stay there the only disappointing thing was the prices of drinks was high plus meals too for what you got. St asaph is a very small town with little to do or places to go. Overall we had a good time in North Wales.

Disappointed that there was no spa facilities available!! As I rang the ext '308' to be told it was closed until Tuesday! This was Saturday. The service in bar and resturant was rather slow and the food wasn't to a high of a standard than I anticipated! The food at breakfast wasn't great either. I asked for my bacon to be well done and it still look just as raw as my husbands (I know hotels don't cook bacon well done anyway!) I wouldn't go back again!!

Very nice hotel. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Our deal included the continental breakfast. This was very good with lots of choice. We enjoyed using the pool which had lovely warm water and also the steam room and sauna. We ate in the hotel dining room one evening and the food was very good. Convenient location for visiting nearby resorts.
