St Nicholas Spa provides a range of treatments in Moroccan-inspired surroundings within a grade II-listed chapel, originally dating back to the 12th century. Located in the heart of Shrewsbury, next to the castle, the venue boasts a striking blend of styles, with stone circular staircases and archways meeting a variety of North African design touches. Facilities include chill out and steam rooms, saunas, and a wood-encased hot tub. An array of body and beauty treatments are also offered.
Spa staff were notified 2 weeks prior to Christmas 2017 that the spa was closing 13th Jan' 2018.
Staff were nice and friendly but under qualified and over worked.
The spa was small and cleanliness wasn't up to much (must be why they had extremely low lighting).
Half of the facilities were out of service so just had use of the jacuzzi (once all the other customers vacated it) and a small sauna.
The light lunch was nice.
Lovely place with lovely service...unfortunately it is closing in 2 weeks.
SPA IS CLOSING DOWN ON JANUARY 13th, don’t buy unless you can go before then!!!!
The place is a bit shoddy and very intimate, we wouldn’t have been surprised if we were asked to put our keys in a bowl when we arrived.
Only one changing room in use, which meant we had to change in a treatment room and wait hours to stash our bag in a locker.
My treatments were great.... my partner’s not so good, he even ended up with lotion in his eye! Luck of the draw I guess.
Overall we actually enjoyed ourselves, but it was more to do with having a chance to chill out together after a hectic Christmas with toddlers and a poorly dog, than it was anything to do with the spa.
The cafe however was lovely and the building is beautiful. We may return to visit the bar and stay at the hotel
Staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It is a very small and intimate spa, which makes it's perfect for relaxation. We both had facials with scalp, neck and shoulder massages and they were excellent. We weren't expecting much for lunch, so were nicely surprised by the quantity and quality of the food provided, making it amazing value for money and a wonderful day out. The only down side was the lack of pool for cooling down in, but we'd still go back again.
A small venue, but an intimate one. A lovely setting at this spa which allows for a relaxing time. The staff are all friendly and very helpful!
It's okay, I wouldn’t buy again as a gift as it's lacking in service
Lovely venue, nice lunch.
