From Our Editors

Formed in 1847 following the purchase of the house where the author of Hamlet, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet was born, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is devoted to preserving the playwright's legacy and celebrating all things Shakespearean. Aside from the house where Shakespeare spent his youth, visitors can also see his mother's farm, his wife Anne Hathaway's cottage, and the house where his daughter lived with her husband. The organisation's vaults contain over a million documents, 55,000 books and 12,000 museum objects, as well as the Royal Shakespeare Company’s archive of theatre records. The Trust is the headquarters of International Shakespeare Association, devoted to spreading knowledge about the writer's work throughout the world, and offers formal and informal education programmes.

All the Shakespeare Trust houses are well worth at least 1 visit. I have been several times to them all and always learn something new on every visit. I am lucky to live not very far from Stratford on Avon.

I thought if im honest the kids would find looking around the houses dull but they loved it as each one had a different theme going on. Shakespeare house had the actors his birth place had the archaeological dig and the last house lots about the plage. They were entertained for hours abd we should have visited for more than one day to have been able to have made the most of the experience. Will usr our tickets again this year.

The actors outside Shakespeare's house we great fun. Love the idea of the ticket being an annual pass so you don't have to try and rush through all the sites in one day. We will be back in the spring. Thank you for an enjoyable day.

Our family really enjoyed our 2 day visit. All 5 houses were beautiful with lots of interesting things to see. We thought all the staff were lovely and very friendly too. Also we thought the falconry man was great too, very funny. Overall highly recommended and we will visit again.

The actors at the birthplace (2 lovely young women) were really good. My daughter was involved by them in their play, and she now tells us it is her ambition to act at the birthplace when she grows up! Thank you for a wonderful day.

Normal price is over priced. Some properties are only tenuously linked to Shakespeare. Some do not have much to see,do or learn.
