From Our Editors

Coldharbour Mill is a wool-spinning mill opened in 1799. The old Mill, now museum, still has the original machinery and uses the original methods. Guests can enjoy a tour and can learn about the history of South West's textile industry. There is an on-site shop and picnic area.

Really interesting example of our industrial past. Run by enthusiasts, the mill is a fascinating place- even more so when the steam machinery is running! Well presented in a beautiful location. Recommended for all the family

Went on a steam up day. Very interesting and lots of volunteers around to ask questions and talk to. Guided tours of steam area and the mill. Kids learnt lots. Very educational.

The whole experience was brilliant we had our young grandchildren and they were so interested in the guides way of conveying the use of the mill and the machinery. She knew her stuff and kept the children interested.

Ideal for all ages but do wear 'sensible' shoes. Can be loud on occasion when machinery is working. Lovely staff and really interesting conversations with the volunteers there. So knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Lovely all round place to visit and most importantly worth preserving. 10 out of 10.

Very interesting glimpse into the past. The grandchildren enjoyed seeing the working machinery and imagining how hard it was for children working in those conditions.. Their interest was maintained by searching for 6 sheep and recording where they found them.
