The place is very clean and we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome. The food was tasty and we upgraded to a dessert too. It was a father’s day treat, other half loved it. We took a lovely walk after dinner.

The Sunday lunch was good. Car park is at the moment being rebuilt. So a little untidy. The grounds are very lovely. On a very nice day, a walk around is worth the time.

Venue was cold. Barely any staff. Felt like I was at a funeral. Had to order off a piece of paper. It was much better as a buffet and when you helped yourself. Previous set up was much better. Will not go again.

I received a Groupon voucher as a gift for Sunday lunch. The venue is lovely and the food was ok. The voucher was for 2 courses a glass of prosseco and tea or coffee. We were shown to our table but had to have a starter as no desserts were an option. It was a buffet starter, very nice and the roast dinner was served to you, again buffet style. We were lucky enough to have our prosseco changed to lager (as we don't drink wine). Not once, did we get asked if we were happy with our meals, asked if we required another drink (eventually I helped myself to a jug of water which was on the side) and we gave up waiting for tea or coffee. Whilst the meal was ok, the lack of service really showed, which was surprising as they had a wedding fayre on that day, unbeknown to us, so you would have thought the staff would have been extra attentive as opposed to not attentive at all. Such a shame as if we had gone with the intention of looking for a potential wedding venue we would have ended up looking elsewhere. For example, when we wanted our main meal the lad serving asked what we wanted and we said a plate would help (they had run out). He then left his station to get some more, but the chap manning the entrance had obviously noticed and gone to get them and they must have passed each other. If he had communicated to his colleague that he had noticed they were short on plates and he was going to get some, all would have been much better. Room for improvement I think, but really just communication between the management and their colleagues.
