Celebrating its 200th year, The Royal Hotel sits close to the town centre and boasts sea views across the Welsh coast. The interior features contemporary en suite rooms which host LCD television, work desk and mini fridge. Spacious rooms also make the hotel a suitable venue for both weddings and conferences. Within the community the hotel takes on a central role, hosting free concerts on the lawns during the summer months and mini fairs during some school holidays.

This was not what I expected from this hotel . It looks a classy hotel , but the service was not good on the day we had afternoon tea . We felt that it was too much trouble to host us , not one smile all the time we were there from either reception or waitress . The tea selection was very basic , 6 small sandwiches ,a huge slice of Victoria sponge ,( it was very nice,) but just a mini chocolate éclair and scone with cream and jam with it . At the full price of £18.50 without prosecco , I would not have been at all happy . As we left we went to the bar to request the prosecco that was included in the deal we bought , as we had not seen a member of staff during our visit to request it during our tea and they had obviously forgotten it .

Best Crem Tea I have had. Four of us went to the Royal Hotel last week for my mothers birthday and it was lovely. PLenty of food, lovely cakes and plenty of Tea or coffee which has not been offered in other places I have had cream teas...SO excellent value for money and fantastic cream tea

Sandwich filling in abundance. Salad garnish a little tired. Kay who served us as much jam, clotted cream and tea as required. Kay was excellent great customer care.

Mouldy strawberries!! To add to this when we said and showed the photos at reception on our way out the receptionist was not that bothered and said she would pass our comments on to the chief....yes because that helped when my niece had eaten half of it and was heaving! The cake "selection " consisted of a scone and slice of sponge cake instead of the traditional and actual selection of cakes. We were also in a pokey little side room with the view of cars so all in all a horrendous afternoon tea. I would definitely not recommend going here unless you want to give it to someone you don't like! Disgusting and totally disappointed!
