Brewery, Winery or Distillery
From Our Editors
The Fox and Castle is an olde world pub set on the outskirts of Old Windsor village. It serves a range of ales and wines alongside a food menu that changes weekly, reflecting the local produce available. The pub also offers BBQ and hog-roast dishes and organises seasonal parties and events.
The pub was extremely run down and scruffy - I asked the Landlord why it was so, so cold in the bar, as there was a huge empty fireplace, to which he replied "Well, we used to have one …… " !!! The place was so cold my husband and I sat in our coats all through the meal, even contemplating eating (difficult) with our gloves on! Food was very mediocre, and served with no customer interest in mind at all! We did wonder, on entry, at an unprofessional, handwritten sign stuck on the door stating "cash sales only" ! Disappointing beyond a doubt, seriously think you should re-visit this establishment.
Lovely food staff very pleasant
Fantastic menu and great food and wonderful, helpful and friendly staff in a great find pub with charm and character.
Friendly pub that takes dogs inside and good choice of menu
Service was friendly but slow considering that were very few other people in the pub. We used a Groupon steak offer which was for a rump steak though the picture shown on the Groupon offer was probably a fillet or Sirloin which was misleading and cost more (though in all fairness mentioned in the small print). Decor was tired and the steak disappointing- quite tough. Wouldn't go back.
Hearty well cooked food, great portions, would just like to see the venue have a face lift to match the cooking.
Lovely atmosphere, staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was great. Will definately go back.
The lady who tended to us (I think one if the owners was adorable and very accommodating. The appetizers were good but the main course was a little blend. Nice pub atmosphere.
