The Deal
Set amid the Perthshire countryside, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is home to a varied array of animals and a range of family activities. The centre boasts a collection of 70 species, including the likes of meerkats, micro pigs and sheep. A family of four zoology enthusiasts can mosey about the site, and perhaps feed a lamb or piglet, or stop by the hatchery to handle a chick. Further attractions include crazy golf, two distinct play areas, and a walking route leading to a viewpoint overlooking the Southern Highlands. The site also features fly fishing ponds, and a cafe which plies refreshments and meals. Seasonally themed events include activities like Easter egg hunts, and children’s parties are regularly held.

Groupon Asks, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, about the centre’s residents, and activities it has to offer.
G: What animals can people expect to see?
“Deer can be spotted all around the park, and observed from a handy viewing point. Others animals include peccary, otters, micro pigs, a meerkat family, wallabies, goats, lemurs, and marmosets – including one which was hand-reared in our kitchen.”
G: How can visitors become acquainted with the animals?
“Guests can handle tortoises and baby rabbits, and groom falabellas, which are miniature horses. At a hatchery, visitors can watch eggs hatch and handle day-old chicks. There will be lamb feedings in the spring, and, once the piglets are born, bottle feeding.”
G: Which is your favourite animal, and why?
“The lemurs have a brand new enclosure this year, and are so amusing when they bounce around the pen. There are feed times where the children can give them grapes, bananas and other fruits under supervision.”
G: What activities or areas are there to entertain the family?
“There are play areas, crazy golf, and two indoor playbarns: one is for younger children, while a new build is designed for older kids with ball cannons, a kick-about sports area, and a wavy slide. There are picnic areas in and outdoors, while lunches and snacks are served in our Torlum coffee shop daily.”
