Amateur pilots can indulge passions for all things airborne with a comprehensive flight training box set. The fleet of goodies includes a 30-minute trial lesson, which will first see aviators afforded a glimpse of some vintage military aircraft in The Horizon Hangar. After a quick briefing, navigators will take off over south Wales for a birds-eye view of Cardiff's landmarks. They'll be encouraged to take the controls, flying a 30-mile radius before landing in a joint effort with the instructor. Before jetting off home, pilots will receive a signed pilot logbook and experience certificate, plus a trial lesson booklet and DVD. Should they wish to swoop round for further lessons, a £10 discount will ease the purse-strings.

Groupon Asks Gareth Burgess, chief pilot of Avi8tors Flying Club, about his love for aviation and the club's team of instructors.

G: How and when did you discover your love of flying?

"From a very early age I knew I wanted to be a pilot, and at the age of 17 I bought a flying lesson which confirmed my desire and passion for aviation. I continued my training and became a Commercial Airline Pilot. I love my job and I feel privileged to be able to see the world doing what I love.

G: What do you love most about it?

"Private Flying offers a sense of freedom and exhilaration that is second to none. The ability to take friends and loved ones on island visits or just to fly over the coasts and valleys is truly a privilege. On occasions when the stress of everyday life seems too much then a solo flight offers a sense of detachment from the world, a calming and wonderful experience that recharges your batteries like a two hour Thai massage."

G: What sort of skills will a beginner need for a trial lesson?

"The budding pilot will be of reasonable aptitude, reasonably fit and willing to learn. The important thing to remember is that for many people this lesson is just a one-off experience so if a customer just wants to sit and enjoy the view, then that's fine too."

G: What experience do the instructors have?

"Our flying instructors are all commercial pilots, holding UK Civil Aviation Authority Commercial Pilots Licenses with instructor ratings. Some are very experienced airline pilots, some ex RAF, and others with training backgrounds, but all with at least several hundred flying hours, and some with several thousand."
