Bovey Castle's serenely majestic grounds have been home to a challenging 18-hole course since it was designed in 1926 by JF Abercromby. Two or four golfers can visit this idyllic sporting venue within Dartmoor National Park, playing a round of golf on the course any day of the week.

What is the castle's history?
WH Smith's son built the manor house after Smith purchased 5000 acres of Dartmoor land from the Earl of Devon in the late 19th century. Not technically a castle, it served as a family retreat before opening as a hotel and golf course in 1930. Subsequently, it has entertained many important historical figures.
What's the golf course like?
A beautiful 18-hole course surrounded by the greenery of Dartmoor National Park, it hosted the PGA Lombard Challenge as a regional qualifying course in June 2013. The course covers much of the vast estate and features a driving range, club house and bistro.
What kinds of activities are available on the estate?
Visitors can get up to anything from cocktail making to clay pigeon shooting to hot-air ballooning. 275 acres of Dartmoor National Park make for a plentiful playground.
