Guests on The Prisoners in the Cathedral walk will have a chance to discover the true story behind the skeletons found near the Durham Cathedral, and listen to one of the Britain’s worst war accounts, dating back to the 17th century. Participants of the Mary Ann Cotton walk will explore some interesting facts about the life and death of the famous English serial killer. Customers will visit the spot where the murderer was hanged for killing three of her four husbands, and where the hangman stayed the night before her execution.
Durham Ghost Walk
Durham ghost walks are organised by a group of dedicated investigators, who try to discover the truth behind some extraordinary events that once took place in Durham City. The tours are all related to the traditional ghost stories of Durham, and present interesting facts about the history of places such as Durham castle, the cathedral, pubs and the village of Sherburn. Either believing in ghosts or not, visitors are also given a chance to have a walk tailored according to their individual interests and needs.
