Groupon’s Guide To Boston
A four-season destination, Boston or the so-called gateway to New England is a bustling and attractive city boasting its own harbour and plenty of parks for outdoor activities. History and culture blend around the city’s skyscrapers, while marketplaces and food stalls line old cobbled streets.
Tourists may step foot on the USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship boasting 52 brass cannons, and visit The Museum of Fine Arts, housing an exposition of Byzantine mosaics, Native American pottery, impressionist paintings, Egyptian and American art. At the New England Aquarium, travellers may admire a multistory Ocean Tank with a thousand fish, the shark-and-ray touch tank and the marine mammals’ exhibit. America’s first botanical garden allures with a four-acre lagoon surrounded by willow, beech, oak, and maple trees bursting with colour in the autumn months. After a day of sightseeing, holidaymakers may indulge in some of Boston’s iconic dishes such as fish Moqueca, hot boiled peanuts and lobster rolls. Autumn in Boston brings warm days and chilly nights, while winters are cold with potential snowfall starting from December to March.
Groupon’s Guide To New York
One of the liveliest places in the world, the city that never sleeps has no shortage of action, standing as a year-round destination for globetrotters. Taking pride in its coastal position, at the confluence of Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean, the metropolitan New York City area consists of five boroughs, with Manhattan being the most famous and Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island following closely behind.
While in the Big Apple, holidaymakers may take a breath of fresh air in the famous Central Park or combine leisurely strolls with shopping sprees in the brightly illuminated Times Square. After admiring the flashing neon and electric lights of the towering skyscrapers from the Empire State Building observatory, travellers may visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a mix of medieval and modern art. After enjoying shows at the Broadway Theatre, tourists may indulge their appetites by tasting the local cheesecake or pizza before returning to the hotel in a typical yellow cab.
Groupon’s Guide to Washington, DC
More than worth a visit on the merit of being the capital of the United States alone, Washington DC is also a place rich in priceless heritage and bustling city life with all its charms The National Mall is a must-see for first-time visitors to Washington, DC. The mall stretches 4 km east from the Lincoln Memorial, past the soaring Washington Monument, to the Capitol Building on the other end. Another pillar of DC is the Smithsonian Institution, which encompasses 19 museums. The Smithsonian's best-known museums are located along the National Mall, including the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum.
In Dupont Circle, foreign embassies housed in historic mansions neighbour hole-in-the-wall bars and boutiques. During the day, crowds gather in Dupont Circle's park to watch chess players hustle on permanent stone-table boards. Here, you can see the neighbourhood's elaborate centrepiece—the two-tiered, white-marble Dupont Circle Fountain. At night, check out the bars along Connecticut Avenue, which range from Latin lounges to beer pubs and high-end clubs. Two blocks from the fountain, The Phillips Collection showcases paintings by Renoir, van Gogh, and O'Keeffe.
Founded in 1751 as its own city, Georgetown predates Washington itself. Its cobblestone paths were made for strolling, and a self-guided walking tour of the area can uncover a wealth of sightseeing gems. Though old, Georgetown is far from stale. It’s home to of high-end shops ranging from antique stores and upscale furniture shops to fashion boutiques.
