The Hotel
Only a ten-minute drive away from the Sibiu International Airport, travellers can take their rest at MyContinental Sibiu. Located in the city centre, this modern hotel is perfectly placed to explore all that the historic town has to offer. Explorers can visit the nearby Bridge of Lies, Brukenthal National Museum or take a journey down The Stairs Passage, cris-crossing the old part of town. Sibiu train station is also a stone's throw away, for all those who wish to venture deeper into the country.
Airy, contemporary rooms offer air conditioning for extra comfort and cable channels on TVs to keep resting guests entertained. En-suite bathrooms come with hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. Minibars and kettles add another touch of luxury to the rooms.
Hungry adventurers can roam the town and its many eateries or head down from their rooms to the MyBistro where international fare is served à la carte. The Tour
When hearing name Transylvania, many think about vampires and connected with them harsh Gothic architecture. On this tour, travellers can explore medieval past of Bran Castle and learn about its association with Stoker's famous Count Dracula. From then, they will move to Brasov and listen to its history while takin in the sights of pointed arches, flying buttresses, ribbed vaults, and spires of the local Gothic buildings, including Black Church and Town Hall Square.
The tour ticket includes transport in an air-conditioned vehicle, map of Romania and English-speaking specialised guide in Brasov. Meeting point is at Bus Parking Lot in Thalia Hall at 9am and the activity ends there as well. The itinerary plans for two hours in Bran Castle and four hours in Brasov. Tickets don't include entry fees to the attractions.
Groupon's Guide To Sibiu
Nestled in the heart of Transylvania, the city of Sibiu was founded in the 12th century by the German settlers. Since then it managed to keep its medieval character to the joy of tourists and historians alike. In 2007, the city was declared the European Capital of Culture, the first city in the Southeastern Europe to have received such distinction.
Its cultural face shows itself through many artistic events taking place in Sibiu, with over 100 events happening in the city periodically. Those include such internationally famous hits like Theater Festival, Documentary Film Festival and Astra Film Fest, the most important international documentary film festival.
Sibiu boasts many attractions that bring in many travellers annually. Stars amongst them being The Council Tower of Sibiu, Brukenthal National Museum inaugurated back in 1817 or the Bridge of Lies built all the way back in 1859 and surviving to this day. Legend has it that this bridge, the first to be built with cast iron, would collapse if a lying person passed it.
