The Experience
Set within 36 000 acres of unspoilt African bush land, the Moditlo Private Game Reserve is a sanctuary of Africa's Big Five, including lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, leopards and rhinoceros. Holidaymakers have the opportunity to observe these majestic creatures up-close in a protected, natural environment on special safaris, guided by expert rangers known for their tracking abilities. Located at the foot of the Drakensberg Mountains, the reserve is one of the richest biodiversity areas in Africa. With 400 species of birds and endangered species, such as the ground-hornbill, the African wild dog and brown hyena, this reservation is a suitable spot to enjoy an exciting safari adventure and learn about African wildlife.

The Safaris
• The all-in game drive safaris operate twice a day in open 4x4 vehicles with experienced rangers that help guests discover the richness and complexity of African wildlife.

• The morning safari drive starts at approximately 6am and includes a coffee break near one of the reserve's twenty lakes for a chance to observe hippos and different bird species.

• Afternoon drive starts at approximately 4pm and lasts until early evening, a prime time to see lions and leopards on their nocturnal hunts.

The Lodge

Situated half way between the Orpen and Phalaborwa gates of the Kruger National Park, the bush town of Hoedspruit meets endless plains or marula, acacia, combretum and mopane woodlands. Home to a number of shops and markets, a visit to the town is a good way to learn about local traditions and culture.

Just outside the town, the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate attracts visitors with a reptile park where black and green mambas or cobras can be seen, a rehabilitation centre for injured animals, horse safaris and many more activities. Established in 1898 in order to protect the South African Lowveld wildlife, Kruger National Park is unrivalled in biodiversity it withholds in its nearly 2 million hectares of land. Famous attractions include the Crocodile River view point and the restored Iron Age village of Masorini, a short drive from Phalaborwa gate.
