The Deal

Zookeeper duty commences at 10am, with an introduction to the sanctuary and work carried out within it, and preparing breakfast for the centre's hungry hoards of exotic occupants will follow. Adults can join children aged between 6 and 16 as they prepare treats and enclosures, handle birds, and greet a variety of inquisitive creatures. The two-hour visit may even see guests brush a wolfdog or feed a Kinkajou, a rainforest mammal native to Central and South America.

The Merchant

Eccleshall's Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre is a sanctuary and registered charity, run by a team of volunteers concerned with animal welfare and safety. The centre houses over 30 species such as iguanas, macaques, wildcats and various birds of prey. Offering activities including bird-handling, falconry lessons and photography experiences, Gentleshaw is also the first point of contact for Raptor Rescue, a national service for endangered birds of prey.
