Groupon delves into the history of the Hatton Court Hotel and discovers some of the facilities for those just stopping by.
What's the history behind the hotel?
The building was originally constructed in the 1920s, rumoured to have been built for the mistress of a local businessman. It became a hotel in the 1950s under the name The Tara. Following changes of ownership and names, and many locals still referring to the hotel as The Tara, the name was given to the restaurant following a refurbishment in 2009.
What about the surrounding area?
The hotel is nestled in the Cotswolds near Upton St Leonards to the south of Gloucester. The grounds boast some impressive views over the Severn Vale.
What facilities does it have?
The Tara restaurant and bar provides a menu of light bites, traditional Sunday roasts and afternoon teas. Major functions including weddings and corporate meetings are also catered for.
The Hatton Court Hotel scored a plush 4/5 on TripAdvisor. Though there have only been a couple of recent comments on the afternoon teas, visitors on the whole complimented the food as well as the overall level of service. Special praise from visitors went to the hotel's location and views over the local area.
