Automatic Movements: Automatic movements are powered by a coiled spring, not batteries or solar power. A coiled spring (mainspring) is located inside the movement and is wound automatically when worn or wound. When moving, a winding rotor on the movement rotates and winds the mainspring. To start an automatic movement, it needs to be handled, worn, or manually wound. To manually wind, rotate the crown clockwise without pulling out; slight resistance will be felt. The mainspring will continually wind and will continue to run while worn. In addition, the watch will continue to run for a period of time after it is removed.
