The Deal

Clients can get to grips with a variety of dog care tips and tricks with an online dog grooming course, certified by the International Council for Online Educational Standards (ICOES). The course covers grooming and bathing techniques, along with areas of dog psychology, first aid and dealing with aggressive animals. Participants will receive a PDF certificate on completion, and course content is accessible for three months.

Modules:

• Module One: Where did grooming begin?

A brief look at the history, origins, evolution and future of dog grooming.

• Module Two: Be prepared!

A look at the various safety measures and procedures for both the groomer and the dog.

• Module Three: First aid

How to perform basic first aid on injured or ill dogs.

• Module Four: The most common disorders

A look at various ailments that may affect dogs, from eczema to dandruff, conjunctivitis and plaque.

• Module Five: Working tools

Various grooming equipment items such as cutting equipment,brushes and disinfectants.

• Module Six: Psychology and bathing

How to approach dogs for grooming, as well as advice for clients to prepare their furry friends for their visit. Also covers why wash, and what to do when faced with an aggressive dog.

• Module Seven: Anatomy and types of coat

Dog anatomy, as well as how to tackle the care of various coats, including short, long and curly.

• Module Eight: Standard styles

This module gives information on various breeds, running from Yorkshire Terriers to Labradors and Samoyed Huskies.

The Merchant
