The Deal

Budding photographers can take their pick of Advanced of Expert level online courses designed to give them practical skills as well as enhance broader photography knowledge. Both options include modules from the preceding courses, down to a basic level, with each also containing a weekly exercise of taking a picture for fellow students to review. Courses also feature tutor comments based on feedback for a selection of exercises chosen at random, while Expert course participants will also be able to receive personalised exercise comments on request. Those following the Expert course will also be able to take an optional exam, with a certificate issued on successful completion. Camera compatibility for the course can be checked here.

Course Content

Advanced Photography

The modules (usually £219) are taught over the course of the 20 weekly Advanced and initial training lessons on the likes of HDR photos, prints and selling images or services. The sessions cover composition, managing light, choosing lenses, depth of field, as well as taking travel, action and landscape shots.

Expert Photography

The course (usually £369) contains 30 weekly lessons, including 20 lessons in the Advance Photography Course, as well as 5 Expert lessons such as HDR photos, prints and selling images or services, and also 5 sessions covering specific skill areas: Weddings, Animals, Sport, Lighting (Packshot & Fashion) and Microstock. A certificate of completion and professional feedback are also included in this option.

The Merchant

I Take Great Pics look to use online course content to impart skills and knowledge to help participants get the most from their cameras. Options range from basic to Advanced levels, and cover camera basics to selling pictures, all the while offering options for peer support and review. Training can take place as and when the student wants, with content accessible on a range of Internet-enabled computer and mobile devices.
