The Museum
As well as being an active hotel, the Jamaica Inn houses a museum dedicated to the region's associated history and legends of smuggling. The establishment was built in 1750 as a coaching inn, but its relatively remote location saw it quickly become a stopping place for unsavoury characters hiding away smuggled contraband. The museum brings to life the smugglers' experience, and is home to variety of artefacts from the past 300 years. Guests will receive a fascinating insight into how endemic smuggling was in its heyday, as well as learning about the connected history of Cornwall.
