A podiatrist gives feet a thorough inspection, checking blood circulation, nerve supply and skin. The treatment will be rounded off with nail cutting as well as removal of any corns and calluses, before a foot massage with specialised cream. “It’s great to provide a service which enables people to feel better about themselves. When your feet hurt- you hurt all over!”

G: What are some simple ways in which people can improve the health of their feet, day to day?

“Always wash your feet in warm (not hot) water and be sure to dry thoroughly between your toes. Check your feet daily for any abrasions, blisters or cuts and seek professional advice if something doesn’t look or feel right. Exercise is great for circulation but if you struggle with your mobility, you can just sit and rotate your feet and ankles to help with this. Wear good fitting, supportive foot wear, ideally with a fastening.”
