What We Offer

The House and Family In Cornwall, Pencarrow, meaning 'head of the valley' or 'high fort', has stood for centuries, evolving through the ages. The Molesworth family's arrival in the late 1500s marked a significant chapter, their lineage intertwined with royal appointments and colonial governance. Under Georgian stewardship, architect Robert Allanson crafted a masterpiece, blending Palladian elegance with classical influences. Lavish renovations and meticulous restoration efforts by later generations have ensured Pencarrow's enduring charm. Today, the family graciously shares their ancestral home, inviting visitors to explore its opulent interiors while preserving their privacy in a discreet wing.

Family Friendly Gardens Explore a range of landscapes in our Cornwall gardens, from formal to ancient woodlands, perfect for family outings. Pencarrow offers short and long circular routes, some wheelchair accessible. Kids enjoy free admission, making us one of Cornwall's few no-cost attractions for children.

Throughout the year, Pencarrow's gardens charm visitors. Snowdrop Sundays kick off the season, followed by vibrant displays of camellias and rhododendrons in March. Bluebells and wild garlic grace the woods in May-June, while the Memorial Garden blooms in summer. Autumn brings hydrangeas and changing foliage, ensuring the gardens always captivate.

Discover unique features like our Iron Age hill fort, sunken Italian Garden with a quatrefoil fountain, ice house, palm house, and ancient Cornish cross. Don't miss the mysterious grotto, rumored to be a clandestine meeting spot.
