Your detailed itinerary
DAY 1: LUXOR
After arriving at the airport, you will be transferred to the port of embarkation, where you can settle into your cabin on board the boat.
Lunch is served on board.
Free afternoon.
Dinner and an overnight stay on board.
DAY 2: LUXOR - ESNA
Have breakfast on board.
Depart for a tour of the left bank of the Nile and the city of Thebes, home to the eternal tombs of the pharaohs from the 18th to the 20th dynasty.
You will visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings. From the 18th Dynasty onwards, and throughout the New Kingdom, pharaohs were no longer buried in temples or monuments dedicated to their final journey. Instead, it was on the west bank of the Nile, in the land of the Afterlife, that Thutmose I and all the subsequent pharaohs chose to be buried. The colossal monuments of the Old Kingdom, such as the pyramids and mastabas, were replaced by tombs carved into the rock with carefully sealed and camouflaged entrances. The main motivation was undoubtedly to keep out tomb robbers.
Lunch will be served on board.
Sail towards Esna.
Dinner and overnight stay on board.
DAY 3: ESNA - EDFU - KOM OMBO
Breakfast.
Sail to Edfu.
Lunch on board.
Then, depart for a visit to the splendid Temple of Horus in Edfu. This architectural masterpiece is one of the best-preserved sites in ancient Egypt and a fine example of Ptolemaic art from the Greco-Roman period. Enter the temple through the large pylon, which is adorned with enormous reliefs depicting the king and the gods. This leads to the courtyard, where the walls recount the various rituals performed by the king. Two large black granite falcons representing the god Horus guard the entrance to the temple.
Continue the cruise to Kom Ombo.
Dinner and overnight stay on board.
DAY 4: KOM OMBO - ASWAN
Have breakfast.
In the morning, visit the Kom Ombo Temple, located a few minutes' walk away. This unique temple, standing alone on a promontory on the banks of the Nile, dates back to the Greco-Roman era. It comprises two magnificent sanctuaries: one dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god; and the other to Horus, the falcon god.
Built during the Ptolemaic period (Greco-Roman era), it stands on the site of an earlier temple from the New Kingdom (dedicated to Thutmose III of the 18th Dynasty). The temple stands on top of a hill overlooking the Nile from a height of 15 metres. Its most striking feature is that it is dedicated to two deities: Haroeris (also known as "Horus the Great" or "Horus the Elder"), the falcon god, and Sobek, the crocodile god.
Everything in this temple is dual: it has two entrances, two parallel corridors and rooms arranged symmetrically on either side of these, all of which lead to the double sanctuary.
Sail to Aswan, the former capital of Nubia.
Enjoy lunch on board.
Then visit the Temple of Philae.
Next, visit the Papyrus Institute.
Enjoy dinner on board and spend the night on the boat.
There is an optional activity available at an additional cost. This can be booked and paid for on site with our local representative:
A sound and light show at Philae Temple.
DAY 5: LUXOR
Breakfast is served on board.
Free morning.
Lunch is served on board.
Coach transfer to Luxor for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
There is an optional activity available at an additional cost. This can be booked and paid for on site with our local representative:
Excursion to Abu Simbel by coach: During the construction of the Aswan Dam, the temples of Abu Simbel were saved from rising waters and rebuilt 110 metres higher. They were built to glorify Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. In 1965, they were dismantled and rebuilt identically 110 metres higher!
The Colossi of Ramses are the largest in Egypt and are carved into the cliff face and dedicated to three of the most famous gods of Pharaonic Egypt: Amun Re, Ramses and Ptah.
Take a tour inside to discover the ceilings and walls decorated with reliefs, and visit the nearby Temple of Hathor with its vestibule and sanctuary.
DAY 6: LUXOR
Have breakfast on board.
Visit Karnak Temple, the most theologically significant temple ever built, which took over 2,000 years to complete. Here, men paid homage to the same god: Amun. Some of the greatest kings, including Seti I, Ramesses II, Thutmose III and Ramesses III, succeeded one another here.
Lunch will be served on board.
Visit Luxor Temple, which was built to glorify the god Amun-Re. Each year, he celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife Mut. A procession would leave Karnak Temple and follow the banks of the Nile to Luxor Temple. The latter was constructed during the reigns of two pharaohs: Amenhotep III and Ramesses II.
Return to the boat.
Free time.
Dinner and an overnight stay will be enjoyed on board.
DAY 7: LUXOR
Breakfast.
Visit the Temple of Medinet Habu, also known as the Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III. This temple is a veritable castle and is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular funerary temples. A visit to this gigantic and monumental site is an essential part of any visit to Egypt. Ramesses III sought to restore Egypt to its former glory and, at the same time, immortalise the name of his illustrious ancestor. As soon as he ascended the throne, he began building his jubilee temple, which remains one of the largest in the Theban necropolis. This immense ancient fortification charms all visitors. It is magnificent in terms of both size and splendour. It is one of the few sites that still retains its beautiful colours. Then, enjoy lunch.
On the way back, there will be a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon: two giant twin statues carved from sandstone that bear witness to the past splendours of the Temple of Amenhotep III.
Dinner and an overnight stay will be provided at the hotel.
There is an optional activity available at an additional cost, which can be booked and paid for on site with our local representative.
A sound and light show at Karnak Temple.
