Your detailed itinerary

Day 1 | Welcome to Siem Reap

Welcome to Siem Reap!

Situated in the north-west of the country, Siem Reap is home to Angkor Wat, classified as the eighth wonder of the world. Alongside the famous temples and pagodas, Siem Reap will give you the opportunity to discover the Tonlé Sap and its authentic countryside.

As soon as you leave the airport, our driver will welcome you and transfer you by private car to your hotel in town (room available from 2:00 pm).

Rest of the day free. Meals on your own. Night in Siem Reap.

Day 2 | Exploring the Angkor Site

The morning will be devoted to a visit to the famous and grandiose site of Angkor.

You'll first visit Angkor Thom, the “great city”, starting with the southern portal, the famous Bayon, dedicated to Buddhism, and composed of 54 gigantic towers featuring 216 faces of Avalokitesvara.

Then you'll discover the 11th-century pyramidal Baphuon temple, dedicated to Brahmanism and representing Mount Meru. Next, the 350-metre-long Terrace of the Elephants, which hosted the pomp of royal audiences and public ceremonies; then the Terrace of the Leper King, a 12th-century platform featuring several admirable sculpted figures of the Apsaras. We continue to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm, embraced by the roots of enormous trees and gigantic creepers.

In the afternoon, you'll head off to the gigantic temple of Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has remained a major religious center since its creation in the 12th century.

Lunch at leisure. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 3 | Siem Reap – Kbal Spean – Bantey Srei – Bantey Samre

This day is devoted to an excursion to Kbal Spean, north of Angkor. In the 11th century, hermits carved the sandstone bed of the river that fed Angkor, depicting “lingas”, or phallic symbols that were sources of fertility. You'll reach the site after a 45-minute walk through the forest.

The tour continues with Banteay Srei, the “citadel of women”, dedicated to Shiva, whose architecture and pink sandstone sculptures are a masterpiece of Khmer art.

Stop to observe work in the rice fields and palm sugar harvesting methods. On the way back, you'll visit Sras Srang, the “basin of ablutions”, and the Buddhist temple of Banteay Kdei. The latter is particularly picturesque, abandoned and overgrown.

Meals on your own.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Note: This is a 1.5 km uphill trek through forest to reach the Kbal Spean waterfall. We suggest you bring a small fan or mosquito spray. The best time to visit Kbal Spean is between July and December.

Day 4 | Siem Reap – Kampong Kleang

You'll head for the Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake and one of the world's most diverse and productive ecosystems.

On arrival at Kompong Kleang, you'll board a boat driven by a villager. Crossing the Tonlé Sap at a leisurely pace, you'll have the opportunity to observe one of the lake's most beautiful villages built on stilts. Once you reach the end of the canal, you'll realize just how vast the lake is, with the horizon stretching as far as the eye can see. During the dry season, a walk to meet the local population is offered before the cruise departs.

Return to Siem Reap in the afternoon and free time at your hotel (no guide, no meals, no car).

Meals on your own.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Note: The best time to visit the Tonle Sap Lake is from August to January. Outside this period, the water level may be low.

Day 5 | Siem Reap – Phnom Penh

After breakfast, you will be taken to the bus station to catch the shared bus to Phnom Penh. The journey (approximately 6 hours) takes you through the provinces east of Tonlé Sap, the largest freshwater reserve in Southeast Asia.

Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, the driver will take you to your hotel.

Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, is located at the confluence of three rivers: the Bassac, the mighty Tonlé, and the impressive Mekong. Unlike other Asian capitals, Phnom Penh stands out with its blend of modernity and provincial charm, as well as French colonial buildings that contrast with Angkorian monuments.

Meals not included.

Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Note: Distance from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh: 300 km – approx. 6 to 6.5 hours by road.

Day 6 | Phnom Penh

Start your day with a visit to the Royal Palace, originally built in 1866 by the grandfather of the current king of Cambodia. The palace is a complex of splendid royal buildings with its classic Khmer roofs, ornamental gilding and intricate layout of its defensive walls, presenting a great mix of Khmer architecture and a slight French touch.
Head to the nearby Silver Pagoda, home to many national treasures, including numerous gold and jewellery Buddha statues.
Then you discover the national museum of Angkor houses a vast collection of Cambodian objects from the golden age of the Khmer kingdom that presents the origins of Khmer art, culture and architecture. The history of Cambodia and the Khmer Empire as well as a fascinating collection of Buddhist objects are presented in a total of eight galleries. Take the time to learn more about the turbulent years of the Khmer Rouge with the visit of Tuol Sleng, a high school turned interrogation prison known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era and now a genocide museum dedicated to presenting the sad story of thousands of innocent Cambodians who were tortured in its grounds.
Then take a stroll in the Art Deco-style Central Market, which is listed as part of the city’s architectural heritage.
Free meals.
Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Remarks:
- The Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda may be closed in case of official ceremonies.
- In religious monuments, all visitors must cover themselves at the knees and cover their shoulders and arms at the elbows. Otherwise, you will be asked to buy a suitable sarong to cover yourself.

Day 7 | Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville – Koh Rong

You take the express route to Sihanoukville (without guide), from where you will take a non-privatized fast boat for a crossing of about 45 minutes - 1h from Sihanoukville to the island of Koh Rong.

Installation at your hotel and free end of day.

Free meals.

Overnight in Koh Rong.

Day 8 | Koh Rong

Enjoy a completely free day (no driver/ vehicle available) to discover the island at your leisure.

Koh Rong is a tropical paradise island. Popular activities include relaxing on white sand beaches, snorkeling to discover the colorful seabed, jungle hikes for breathtaking views, and visiting local fishing villages for cultural immersion. Enjoy spectacular sunsets and the peaceful atmosphere of this secluded and unspoilt destination.

Kep is a charming coastal town renowned for its fresh seafood and tranquil atmosphere.
