Your detailed itinerary
DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN MONTREAL
Arrive at Montreal Airport and collect your hire car. Welcome to Canada!
Montreal is the second-largest French-speaking city after Paris, where history meets modernity in the form of the historic Vieux Port and the contemporary downtown area. Explore the historic district of Old Montreal, named Ville Marie, which is considered the most charming part of the city. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Place Jacques Cartier and the magnificent City Hall.
Head to the city centre and be sure to visit the Place Ville Marie Observatory, which offers a unique view of the city from 185 metres up. You should also check out another of the city's special features: an underground network of cafés, restaurants and shops.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Montreal.
DAY 2 - MONTREAL
Two other neighbourhoods that are particularly worth a visit are the Latin Quarter and Mount Royal. Here you will find Saint Joseph's Oratory and the magnificent 200-hectare Mount Royal Park. If you have time, we recommend visiting the Olympic Park, where you can enjoy tours of the botanical garden, the Biodome, the Olympic Stadium and the Insectarium.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Montreal.
DAY 3 - QUEBEC
Quebec City, the capital of the province of Quebec, is the oldest city in Canada. Beyond the imposing stone walls, you can admire the star-shaped citadel and impressive fortifications. Before exploring the Old Port, Place Royale and Petit-Champlain, stop off at the Houses of Parliament. A traditional sugar shack is the perfect place to enjoy lunch or dinner. You will have the chance to learn about the traditional art of maple syrup production before enjoying a memorable meal!
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Quebec City.
DAY 4 - QUEBEC
Make sure you visit the impressive Montmorency Falls, a natural wonder which is actually higher than Niagara Falls. If you're not afraid of heights, you can even cross the falls via a zip line for an unforgettable experience.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Quebec City.
DAY 5 - CHARLEVOIX
Designated a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the Charlevoix region brings together the sea and the mountains. Here you will find sheer cliffs, exceptional parks, impressive villas and charming villages nestled at the foot of the hills or in peaceful coves.
Begin your journey with a visit to Baie-Saint-Paul. Founded over 350 years ago, it is one of the oldest and most picturesque towns in Quebec.
Surrounded by sea, mountains and the great outdoors, Baie-Saint-Paul has long been a popular destination for artists and has preserved much of its cultural heritage, including century-old houses. Take a stroll along the narrow streets lined with quaint boutiques and art galleries, then immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the beach. Then take Route 362. This is a spectacular stretch of road. Known as the "Route du Saint-Laurent", it is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in Canada.
It will take you to La Malbaie, where you can enjoy a stroll along the beautiful Rue du Quai in Pointe-au-Pic, or climb the Chemin des Falaises to discover the elegant homes of the last century set in an exceptional location. Be sure to visit the iconic Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu and cycle along the river.
Meals at leisure. Overnight in Baie-Saint-Paul.
DAY 6 - CHARLEVOIX
The region's main attraction is the magnificent Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park. The park takes its name from a series of valleys carved out of a range of high mountains, some of which reach over 1,000 metres in altitude. Its steep slopes, natural beauty and the unique way in which the Malbaie River winds through the landscape make this a truly exceptional site.
Meals at leisure. Overnight in Baie-Saint-Paul.
DAY 7 - SAGUENAY
NNow, head to Jacques Cartier National Park. The park is home to the beautiful Jacques-Cartier Valley, a spectacular 600-metre-deep glacial valley through which one of Quebec's most beautiful rivers winds.
This true nature lover's paradise is home to a variety of wildlife, including moose, caribou, deer, wolves, foxes, river otters and black bears. We recommend taking a trip in a traditional rabaska canoe.
Next, explore the magnificent Saguenay Fjord National Park, a natural wonder boasting 100 kilometres of hiking trails that wind through this beautifully preserved region.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Saguenay.
DAY 8 - SAGUENAY
If you want to continue exploring the local wildlife, the Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien is not to be missed. Spanning 4,5 km and home to 90 different species and 1,000 animals, it is one of the largest zoos in Canada.
Next, travel back in time with a visit to the historic village of Val Jalbert. This open-air museum is a reconstruction of a 1920s village. Take an exciting tour interspersed with immersive live shows to experience life in the past century.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Saguenay.
DAY 9 - MAURICIE
The Mauricie National Park is a remote area situated in the southern Laurentians, one of the world's oldest mountain ranges, on the northern bank of the St. Lawrence River. Home to 150 lakes and 536 km² of forest inhabited by wild animals, it is an exceptional, unspoilt area. A variety of activities are available, including kayaking, canoeing, swimming and hiking.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Mauricie.
DAY 10 - MAURICIE
We recommend either a guided tour with a professional guide to observe the black bears in their natural habitat or a seaplane tour to experience the park's natural beauty from above.
You can also visit Trois-Rivières. Founded in 1634, it is the second oldest city in North America.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Mauricie.
DAY 11 - OTTAWA
If you want to find out more about Canada's wildlife, be sure to stop by Omega Park.
Then continue on to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Be sure to visit the Rideau Canal and the government buildings on Parliament Hill. There are plenty of other highly recommended attractions: the Byward Market, Embassy Row and Gatineau Park, to name a few.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Ottawa.
DAY 12 - THOUSAND ISLANDS
Today, you will visit the unique natural wonder of the Thousand Islands region. This archipelago comprises more than 1,800 islands in the St. Lawrence River, straddling the border between the United States and Canada.
The islands vary in size from over 100 km² to tiny plots of land occupied by a single small hut. Some of the islands boast elaborate mansions, such as the German-style Boldt Castle on Heart Island and the Gothic-style Singer Castle on Dark Island, which has secret passages.
We highly recommend going on a cruise.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Kingston.
DAY 13 - TORONTO
Visit Toronto's most iconic landmark, the CN Tower. At 553 metres tall, it is the tallest tower in the Western Hemisphere and is considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Next, explore Chinatown and the bohemian atmosphere of Kensington Market, before heading to the Eaton Centre and Yonge/Dundas Square, one of Canada's busiest and liveliest crossroads.
Shopping enthusiasts should take a stroll down Bloor Street, Toronto's and Canada's most famous shopping district.
Culture lovers should visit the Distillery District, Canada's major art, culture and entertainment hub. The Victorian industrial buildings from the 19th century have been restored and now house unique shops, restaurants, and galleries.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Toronto.
DAY 14 - TORONTO
We highly recommend a trip to Niagara Falls, a breathtaking site considered one of the seven wonders of the world. For an even more impressive experience, take a cruise to get closer to the falls and enjoy this magical moment.
Meals at leisure. Overnight stay in Toronto.
