Your detailed itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Osaka

Your first day in Japan will begin with your arrival at Kansai International Airport (KIX). You will then travel to your hotel in Osaka using a combination of transport options included in your JR Rail Pass: the JR Haruka Express to reach the city's main JR stations, followed by the Osaka Metro and Bus Pass to complete your journey. Once you have settled in, you will have a free day to relax after your flight or explore the area around your hotel at your own pace.

Day 2 | Excursion to Nara

On your second day, start with breakfast at the hotel. Then, dedicate your day to exploring Osaka and choose a fascinating excursion to Nara. In Osaka, visit the iconic Osaka Castle and explore the vibrant Dotonbori district, renowned for its lively atmosphere and bright signage.

In the afternoon, head to Nara to admire the majestic Todai-ji, home to the Great Buddha, and take a stroll in Nara Park where free-roaming deer await you. At the end of the day, return to Osaka.

Day 3 | Departure for Himeji and Hiroshima

For your third day, after breakfast at the hotel, head towards Hiroshima with a notable stop along the way. After this enriching visit, continue your journey on the Shinkansen to Hiroshima (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes travel time).

Day 4 | Hiroshima and Miyajima

Day 5 | Hiroshima - Okayama - Kurashiki

On your fifth day, after breakfast at the hotel, set off towards Kurashiki with a stopover in Okayama.

In Okayama, you will have the opportunity to visit the splendid Korakuen Garden, considered one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan. After this verdant break, continue your journey to Kurashiki, a city renowned for its beautifully preserved historic district and picturesque canals, inviting you to a charming stroll.

Day 6 | Kurashiki - Kyoto

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, set off for Kyoto.

On the way, consider a half-day excursion to Naoshima, known as the island of contemporary art. There, you can visit iconic museums such as the Chichu Art Museum (note that the ferry is not included in the JR Pass for this excursion). After this artistic interlude, continue your journey towards the beautiful city of Kyoto by JR train.

Day 7 | Kyoto

On your seventh day, after breakfast at the hotel, set out to discover the must-see sites of Kyoto. Your exploration will first lead you to the famous Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, whose splendour is reflected on the water. Next, visit Ryoan-ji, a Zen temple renowned for its iconic dry garden, inviting contemplation.

The day will continue in Arashiyama, where you will be amazed by its majestic bamboo grove and can cross the picturesque Togetsukyo Bridge.

Day 8 | Kyoto

After breakfast at the hotel, continue exploring this city rich in heritage. Your morning will be dedicated to visiting the impressive Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its thousands of red torii gates forming mystical tunnels. Next, head to the Kiyomizu-dera temple which, in addition to its remarkable architecture, offers a spectacular panoramic view over the entire city of Kyoto.

Finally, end the day with a charming stroll through the traditional district of Gion, where you can soak up the unique atmosphere and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a geisha.

Day 9 | Kyoto - Hakone

After breakfast at the hotel, set off towards Hakone with a journey of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes on the Shinkansen from Odawara. Once you arrive, you'll have the opportunity to fully enjoy the region's famous onsen (hot springs) and embark on a discovery tour of Hakone: enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Ashi, offering, weather permitting, a breathtaking view of the majestic Mount Fuji. Then take the cable car to Mount Owakudani to admire its volcanic landscapes.

Dinner included and night in your ryokan, a typical inn of the region.

Day 10 | Hakone - Tokyo

On your tenth day, after breakfast at the hotel, head to Tokyo by JR train (a journey of about 1 hour and 30 minutes). Once you arrive in the Japanese capital, dive straight into the city's vibrant atmosphere: Explore the iconic districts of Shibuya with its famous crossing, and Harajuku known for its eccentric fashion. You will also have the opportunity to visit the serene Meiji Jingu Shrine, offering a peaceful escape in the heart of the urban hustle.

Day 11 | Tokyo

Breakfast at the hotel. Take advantage of this new day to go on an excursion! We suggest:

Kamakura: Just an hour from Tokyo, discover the coastal city of Kamakura. Visit the famous Great Buddha (Daibutsu), a monumental bronze statue, as well as the majestic Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, an important Shinto shrine.

Nikko: If you prefer a longer excursion (about 2 hours from Tokyo), you can head to Nikko. There, you will have the opportunity to visit the sumptuous Toshogu Shrine, a beautifully decorated complex of temples and shrines listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 12 | Tokyo

On your twelfth day, after breakfast at the hotel, take advantage of this final full day to further explore the capital at your own pace. Immerse yourself in the historic district of Asakusa and visit its iconic Senso-ji Temple.

For technology and pop culture enthusiasts, the Akihabara district, a hub of geek culture, will be an essential stop.

Finally, for a touch of luxury shopping, head to Ginza or opt for a moment of relaxation and serenity in the heart of the beautiful Shinjuku Gyoen Park.

Day 13 | Departure from Tokyo

Your thirteenth and final day will begin with breakfast at the hotel. Then it's time for your transfer from the hotel to the airport for your return flight. This transfer will be made by combining the Narita Express or Tokyo Monorail, both included in your JR Rail Pass, and if necessary, you will complete the journey with the Tokyo Metro Ticket. Finally, you will take your return flight from Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) airport.

It is the traveller's responsibility to find out about any changes to entry formalities in the destination country. As a general rule, travellers should always carry a mask and hydro-alcoholic gel.

Health

Covid-19 health crisis: travellers with a complete vaccination schedule are no longer required to undergo a PCR test less than 72 hours before the flight. It is still compulsory if the schedule is incomplete. Remember to check the latest information. No vaccination is compulsory. Don't forget to check that your vaccination record is up to date (DTP Coq). Health standards are equivalent to those in Western Europe. Natural and climatic risks are high in Japan, so make sure you keep informed.

Good to know

If you are travelling alone, you will be asked to pay a surcharge for a single room. This additional charge will be automatically included in your quote.

Child rates will be applied for children from 2 to 12 years old in the case where the child shares the room with two adults. If the child is travelling with just one adult, the surcharge may be applied on an adult basis. If your child or children do not fit into the age group mentioned above, the rate will be communicated to you at the time of processing your order. If the room is equipped with a bunk bed, the bed height is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
