Your detailed itinerary

DAY 1: CAIRO

Arrival in Cairo.

Cairo is one of the largest cities in the world and stretches along both sides of the Nile.

Settle in for your overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2: CAIRO - PYRAMIDS, SAKKARA, MEMPHIS

Breakfast at the hotel.

Set off to visit the Giza Plateau and its incredible pyramids:
The Great Pyramid of Giza (the largest of the three, built around 2650 B.C.) is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one to have stood the test of time. For more than 40 centuries, it was the highest monument built by man at 146 m high.
Khafre: the Pyramid of Khafre looks taller than Giza, but is actually slightly smaller. It has a steeper incline and sits on slightly higher ground, making it appear bigger than it is.
Menkaure: the tomb of King MenkauIt. At a height of 66 m, it is much smaller than the other two pyramids.
The Sphinx: a lion's body with a Pharaoh's head. Its role was to guard the tomb's entrance from pillagers. It measures 73 m long and 20 m high*

Lunch during the visit.

You will spend the afternoon exploring the sites of Memphis and Sakkara. Memphis was founded by King Menes in around 3000 B.C and was once the capital of the Old Egyptian Empire, but is now a palm grove home to several stone blocks, tablets and statues, including the iconic Alabaster Sphinx. You will then head to Sakkara and the famous Step Pyramid, built around 2700 B.C. for the pharaoh Djoser by Imhotep.

Dinner and night spent at the hotel.

DAY 3: CAIRO - MUSEUM & COPTIC AREA

Breakfast.

Visit to the Egyptian Museum, which houses treasures dating from the prehistoric age to the Roman period, inlcuding the famous Tutankhamun. It holds over 250,000 items and is one of the largest museums in the world, giving visitors the chance to learn about the history of ancient Egypt through 5 millennia.

Lunch during the visit.

Set off to visit Coptic Cairo. The Christian religion was introduced by St Mark around 45 AD and this is how the Coptic community - Coptic being a term specifically referring to the Christians of Egypt - began to develop. The Coptic area in Cairo is best known for having many churches in a very small area.
The Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church is one of the oldest Christian churches, built around the 3rd or 4th century AD. The Church was named Saint Sergius in homage to a general who converted to Christianity. The Christians built a church on this very spot because it is believed that the Holy Family took refuge here when it used to be a cave.
Saint Virgin Mary's Church, or the Hanging Church, is a very beautiful monument. It is accessible via stairs preceded by a corridor with mosaics depicting biblical scenes. This church is nicknamed the Hanging Church because it is built above palm tree trunks which support it like stilts. The interior is lavishly decorated. In the main room, there is a Coptic icon depicting the Virgin Mary with Jesus in her arms. It feels like she's following you with her gaze as you walk around her.
Ben Ezra Synagogue is a true architectural masterpiece. From the outside, there is nothing exceptional about it, but it is the inside which makes it all the more interesting; it's quite simply incredible.

Optional activity to be booked and paid for on-site with our local representative:

The Baron Palace: if you make a stop in Cairo, visit the Baron Palace and discover the mysteries that are hidden there. Baron Empain arrived in Egypt in January 1904, with the intention of saving one of his wife's development projects.

Dinner and night spent at the hotel.

DAY 4: CAIRO - LUXOR

Breakfast.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Luxor, Upper Egypt.

Arrival in Luxor, transfer to the port and settling into the ship's cabins.

Lunch on board.

Free afternoon.

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 5: VALLEY OF THE KINGS

Breakfast on board.

Set off to visit the left bank of the Nile, Thebes, where the tombs of pharaohs from the 18th to the 20th dynasty can be found.
In the Valley of the Kings you will visit three tombs. From the 18th dynasty onwards and throughout the New Empire, the pharaohs were no longer buried in temples or monuments dedicated to their last journey. Thutmose I and all the pharaohs who followed him decided to be buried on the other side of the Nile, on the West Bank - the land of the afterlife. Colossal monuments, such as the pyramids, and even the Mastabas used during the Old Kingdom ceased to be used. Instead, vaults were dug into the rock and access to them was strictly closed and hidden. Perhaps the main reason for this was to avoid grave robbers.

Visit to the temple at Medinet Habu also known as the Temple of Ramesses III. This temple is like a castle. It is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular funerary temples. Your visit to Egypt would not be complete without visiting the gigantic and monumental site of Ramesses. Ramesses III sought to restore the greatness of Egypt and equally immortalise the name of his famous ancestor. He began to build his jubilee temple as soon as he acceded to the throne, and it has remained one of the largest in the necropolis of Thebes. Visitors are always captivated by this vast ancient fortress built by Ramesses. It is incredible in both size and splendour. It is one of the few that still has beautiful colours.

On the way back, there will be a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon: giant twin statues carved in sandstone, witnesses to the past splendours of the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III.

Lunch on board.

Sail towards Esna.

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 6: EDFU - KOM OMBO

Breakfast.

Sail to Edfu.

Lunch on board

Set off to visit the splendid Temple of Horus in Edfu. This masterpiece of architectural balance and elegance is one of the best-preserved sites in all of Ancient Egypt, a great example of Ptolemaic art from the Graeco-Roman period. You enter the temple through the great pylon decorated with large, raised images of the king and the gods, towards the courtyard with walls depicting the various rituals performed by the king. There are two large black granite falcons, representing the God Horus, which guard the entrance of the temple.

Cruise continues to Kom Ombo.

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 7: KOM OMBO - ASWAN

Breakfast.

Visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo in the morning: isolated on a promontory along the Nile, this unique temple in Egypt dating from the Graeco-Roman era includes two superb sanctuaries, one dedicated to Sobek, the Crocodile God, and the second to Horus, the Falcon God. It was built in the Ptolemaic period on the site of a New Empire temple. It is located on top of a hill, 15 m above the Nile.
The most surprising feature is that it is dedicated to two different gods: the Falcon God Haroeris - Great Horus, sometimes called Horus the Elder - and Sobek, the Crocodile God. Duality is everywhere in this temple: it has two entrances, two parallel corridors, and symmetrically arranged rooms on either side of these corridors, which all lead to the double sanctuary. Sculpted columns display shimmering colours on the esplanade in front of the entrance.

Sail to Aswan, capital of Nubia.

Lunch on board.

Set off for the Low and High Dam of Aswan which controls water levels in the Nile. You will stop for a photo opportunity in front of these epic edifices and the spectacular panoramic views of the vast Lake Nasser.

Next, visit to the Philae Temple.

Visit to the Papyrus Institute.

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 8: ASWAN

Breakfast on board.

Free morning.

Lunch on board.

Felucca Mini Cruise and Aswan Botanical Garden. The only way to reach the left bank and Kitchener Island and Elephantine Island, true jewels along the river. Enjoy the breeze while you sail along the calm, blue waters of the ancient Nile.

Stop off at Kitchener Island and visit the botanical garden.

Late afternoon free.

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 9: ASWAN

Breakfast.

Free day on the boat.

Lunch on board.

Sail to Esna

Dinner and night spent on board.

DAY 10: LUXOR

The boat will pass through the lock first thing.

Breakfast on board.

Visit to Karnak Temple. The most theological temple ever built here saw the same god worhsipped for 2000 years: Amun. The name "Karnak", meaning "fortress", dates back to the Muslim conquest.

Lunch on board.

Visit to Luxor Temple, built to glorify the god Amun-Re who celebrated his wedding anniversary there with his wife Mut each year. The procession would leave Karnak Temple and walk along the banks of the Nile to Luxor. The construction of the latter dates back to the reign of the two pharaohs, Amenhotep III and Ramesses II.

Return to the boat. Free time.

Dinner and night spent on board.

In 1965, they were dismantled and rebuilt exactly as they were but 110m higher! The Colossi of Ramesses, the largest in Egypt, are built directly into the cliff. They are consecrated to the most famous gods of Pharaonic Egypt. You will visit the inside where you can see the ceilings and walls decorated with frescos.
