Clients looking to make a colourful, lifelong statement can head to Slink Ink Tattoos to have a design of their choice etched onto their skin forever. Two small 2”x2” areas can go under the needle, or alternatively one medium 4”x4” patch can be chosen for illustration. The session lasts for 60 minutes, including a 10-minute consultation to discuss the desired design and placement, as well as any concerns the customer may have.
Groupon Asks Steven Allison, owner of Slink Ink Tattoos, about how he got into the art of tattooing, what his favourite styles are and how customers can prepare for their session.
G: How did you get into the art of tattooing?
“Tattoos fascinated me from a young age and I thought I would love to do that, however, it is a very hard industry to get into. Years ago, I had to ask different tattoo studios and the answer was always “no, we don’t need anyone”; I eventually got my foot in the door helping out in a studio and the ball just started rolling from there.”
G: What is your favourite style and why?
“I don’t really have a favorite style; I love doing all tattoos and making them look the best I can make them, or even saying to a customer if they would like to change the design, to make it look better, so they always leave with a smile on their face.”
G: How should customers prepare for their session?
“Make sure they have had something to eat prior to getting a tattoo, and not be out drinking the night before, as this will thin the blood and make you bleed more during the tattoo.”
