Budding producers and DJs can get to grips with Ableton Live 9 or pick up some mixing skills with a choice of online course. The courses use a range of tools, including instructional videos, downloadable notes and diagrams to keep as well as setting goals and tasks to help track progress.

Ableton Live Studio 9 Course:

The Ableton course is aimed at beginners with access to the software and includes a sample pack to play with while studying. The course contains 35 lessons ranging from setting up the software to creating beats, sampling, bass and chords, arranging, automation. Music theory, mixdowns and the use of post effects such as delays and compressors will also be covered, all with lesson goals and tasks to help track progress.

DJ Complete:

DJ Complete is SubBass ‘s flagship DJ course and has been taught in their London studio for over 10 years and is now available online. The course covers everything from the basics of equipment set up to pitch matching, mixing board techniques,software, controllers and DJ FX. Filmed at the Pioneer DJ lab in London the course covers different styles of mixing and looks to impart professional DJing tricks and tips, including how to promote yourself and getting that all important first gig.
