A six-hour course at The Button Boutique shows students how to breathe new life into old household objects. Participants will bring along a small wooden piece of furniture of their choice to work on, along with any additional adornments they wish to use. This item can be prepared during the first session, along with a practical demonstration of upcycling techniques. Students can then return a week later to complete their creations, starting by mixing paint colours before moving on to experiment with techniques such as ageing and decoupage. Hot beverages and cakes are provided to keep creative juices flowing.
Choose from the following options for an upcycling course:
£28 for one person
£54 for two people
The Button Boutique craft company was launched by textile artist Gemma Longworth. Her love for all things artisan has led her to host arts and crafts activities or events for groups ranging from kids’ parties to hen-dos. Workshops focus on items for the home, including cupcakes, fascinators, t-shirts, canvas bags, rag dolls and more. The boutique also sells a range of handcrafted items such as hair accessories, jewellery and other gifts.

“We enjoyed our weekend at the Button Boutique, a nice friendly , relaxed atmosphere. I was just sorry I did not get to see the other finished pieces of furniture. I was interested in seeing how to distress and decoupage; even though I was not doing this on my piece of furniture it would have been good to see the other's finished results. It might also be a good idea to ascertain on the first day what colour paint is required.”
“A really beautiful chilled place !!”
“Thank you for a lovely afternoon, will be back soon!”
